Robert Christy is a native of Manchester, New Hampshire
and graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1949
whereupon he was admitted to the University of New Hampshire
and graduated in 1953. After graduation from UNH he was
commissioned as an artillery officer and entered active
duty with the Army of the United States until discharged
in the fall of 1955. He graduated from Boston University
Law School and was admitted to the Bar of the State of New
Hampshire in 1959. Upon admittance to the Bar he commenced
active practice as an Associate of Hamblett, Kerrigan &
Hamblett in Nashua. In 1960 he commenced a practice of law
as a solo until reactivation to active duty as Commander
of a self-propelled artillery battery at Fort Bragg, North
Carolina. Upon return to civilian life he reopened his practice
for a short period of time until joining the firm of John
W. King and David L. Nixon in 1963.
Attorney Christy is admitted to the practice of law before
the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Circuit Court
of Appeals, the United States District Court for New Hampshire,
and the New Hampshire Supreme Court. He has served as an
approved Neutral Mediator and Arbitrator in the New Hampshire
Superior Court Alternate Dispute Resolution Program, since
its inception, and has participated in that capacity for
many cases.
In addition to three years varsity hockey and three years
varsity lacrosse at the University of New Hampshire Attorney
Christy has participated in other sports activities in the
State of New Hampshire. He was one of the founding fathers
and participated as an active player in the Granite State
Hockey League, former Director for Pop Warner Football,
former Coach and Director in the Manchester Regional Youth
Hockey Program. Other activities included service as a long
term Director and President of JF & Associates Credit
Union; 26 years as a member of the city of Manchester Board
of Health (Chairman for over 21 years); Arbitrator for the
American Arbitration Association; and United Way of Manchester
Director.
His wife, Rae Catherine Christy, hails from Woodsville,
New Hampshire, and has just retired from Trinity High School,
in Manchester, New Hampshire.
