David L. Nixon

DAVID L. NIXON was born in Concord, Massachusetts. He graduated with honors from Wesleyan University in 1953 as president of his class and football co-captain. After volunteer service in the U.S. Army, he attended on the G.I. Bill, and earned his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1958, where he also served as president of his class and was a member of the Barristers Honor Society. He served the Town of New Boston, New Hampshire, as town moderator and town counsel for 27 years. He also served as a representative to the New Hampshire Legislature from 1969-70, was named Outstanding First Year Legislator in 1969, and was elected president of the New Hampshire State Senate in 1973-74, having served as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee during 1971-72. He also served as a delegate to the 1984 New Hampshire Constitutional Convention, and to the 1976 Republican National Convention as a Ford-Dole delegator. He has been an active and award-winning Democrat since 1986. He has served as a trustee of Colby-Sawyer College, and as president of the New Hampshire Bar Association, the Manchester Bar Association, and was the first president of the New England Bar Association. He is a member of The Association Of Trial Lawyers Of America, The Inner Circle Of Advocates, The Million Dollar Advocates Forum, has served as president of The International Society Of Barristers, as chair of The New Hampshire Bar Association Mediation Committee, and as a founding director and secretary of the Joe Yukica/New Hampshire Chapter, National Football Foundation Hall Of Fame, which awarded him its Distinguished Citizen Award in 2000.

A practicing trial lawyer since 1958, Mr. Nixon has been awarded the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award, the New Hampshire Trial Lawyers’ Association Award as Trial Lawyer of the Decade, the Manchester Bar Association’s Lawyer of the Year Award, and the New Hampshire Bar Foundation’s highest award, as an Honorary Fellow. He has also been a member of the New Hampshire Judicial Council and the New Hampshire Court Accreditation Commission (appointed to both by the New Hampshire Supreme Court). Admitted to practice before the New Hampshire Supreme Court, the United States District Court for New Hampshire, the United States Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court, Mr. Nixon has been certified by the National Board Of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Advocate. He is a life member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans, was commander of his legion post in 2004-05, serves as Judge Advocate of Sweeney Post No. 2, American Legion in Manchester, and has been Scholarship Chair of the Hillsborough County Law Enforcement Association. He is also a volunteer DOVE attorney, representing pro bono, abused women and children.

Mr. Nixon’s trial experience includes automobile collisions and personal injury matters of all kinds, including product defect cases, business litigation, employee rights, defamation, and medical malpractice matters.
